Group pricing - how to assign customer to a group?

Two questions regarding group pricing.

1. I can see how to create a new group under Customers>Group Pricing. NP. However, how/when does a customer get added to that group? I assume this is something that must be done by Admin after the customer has registered an account?

2. Let's say I set up a group called Retailers and give them a straight 30% off all orders. I also want to offer some additional volume discounts, but ONLY to this Retailers group, not to all regular customers. Can this be done in ZC?

Once you have made your Group Pricing ... you can assign a group to a customer by editing the Customer in the Admin ...

Make another Group Pricing for a higher percentage off and assign those customers the higher group discount ...

If you want specific specials on individual Products because customers belong to the Retailers group then you would need to further customize the code for that ...

Sorry about that. I thought my original question was clear. Let me try again -

Let's say I set up a group called Retailers and offer them 30% discount across the board. But now, I also want to offer additional volume pricing ONLY TO RETAILER GROUP CUSTOMERS. So they login and they see their special 30% off pricing. And if any RETAILER orders, say, $5000 or more, they get an additional 5% off (over and above their 30%).

The key here is that I only want to offer this volume pricing to THIS SPECIFIC GROUP.

You may want to look through the Free Software Add Ons and see if there is anything like this for multiple pricing discounts to handle the additional discounts ...
