Specialist ONLY Access Area

I run a training company and also sell other products to support the field of business as well.

I am needing to have a few categories ONLY accessable to my company members (trained specialists), and not just the general public.

How do I create this access restriction?

Also, the customer accounts would have to be managed to allow those that are members access to these restricted sites.

At first I thought it would be a group that I would create, but is for a discount at the end of shopping at the checkout, I need access restriction to the specific category areas.

Any help would be fantastic!

wouldn't it be easier to create a subdomain and duplicate your shop onto this?? then just put the items for company members on there?
