Automatically populate category images from their product images

I personally like sites without category images to lead straight to the products from the menu.....save people wading through categories anyway :)

That particular file uses
SUBCATEGORY_IMAGE_WIDTH, SUBCATEGORY_IMAGE_HEIGHT
to limit the size, so those would be the settings to pay attention to here.

i'm guessing 333 was too wide!

so... now i'm wondering if it's possible to have category levels display differently... like... some with images, some with just category name lists?

or is there some magic php way to make the random images appear if you've got deep categories...

I would have thought it would display the pixel_trans.gif if there was no image which should be an invisble gif..

The "no image" image is settable in admin as to what file will be used, if any.
There isn't a way to distinguish category levels with this, though.

thanks! i've set the following in my admin.

Product Image - No Image Status 0
Product Image - No Image picture (blank)

i'm still getting double category names now though. (see screenshot)

what am i missing?

a ha. i set this...

Image Required false

and now i've just got category names for the upper categories and then random ones fill in on the bottom level... it's gonna take me a while to assign images to all the categories i've got.
