Why Does "No Picture Available" Not Work For Subcategories?

Why does the "No Picture Available" temporary image NOT show up for subcategories (with no category image) on the category page? I'd really like to see this work. Any ideas? Thanks for your help!

There is probably a reference in the database field (products table) that refers to an image... but the image does not exist in the images folder.

For the NO IMAGE gif to appear, that field must be EMPTY. Even if it has "Elvis is King" loaded in the field it will not return the NO IMAGE gif, because the field contains content.

If you make the field BLANK (completely devoid of content) then your NO IMAGE will show.

The field is blank. Any other ideas?

Keep in mind that I'm talking about the CATEGORY page that displays the subcategory photos/links.

When I look at the source code, it's actually displaying pixel_trans.gif.

I can't ever remember in the 7 years we have been doing this to show the "no image available" there. You could custom code that section to do it though.
