Catgory & Product images going Haywire!

Hi guys,

I recently completed a website for a client and until a few days ago, he could add images to categories and products via admin and experienced no problems.

But for the last few days, whenever he uploads an image for a category or product there is a major problem.
In admin and on the website, the images appear correctly after he has uploaded and saved them. However, 24 hours or so later, when he checks the site, then he sees that the category images have mysteriously changed positions with other category images and ditto the product images!

I added 2 test categories last night and added 1 product to the 1 test category as well. To make sure it is not an image file name duplication issue, I uploaded 1 image only, which I used as category image for both test categories, as well as used it a as a product image for the test product. This morning I had a look and everything seems to still be fine so file name duplication is obviously not an issue,yet when the client adds anything, the images move to different positions (category & products) after a few hours...this is very frustrating for the client as he has uploaded many images and ended up deleting hundreds of images since they got all mixed up without him messing/changing any settings in admin.

Does anyone have an idea as to what can cause this?
I am really stumped on this one and urgently need to resolve
this issue for the client.

I've seen something similar with carts that had both products and subcategories in a category.

If you can provide the site address, we might be able to see something.

Basically each category in the shop has subcategories.
There is an image to denote the category, image to denote the subcategory and then there are the images denoting products.

Currently the client has put the site in maintenance mode, but I can disable maintenance mode for a while, no problem. Its just that the client doesn't want sales to go through whilst he is still uploading products and whilst there is this mess up with the images.

Right, but there are no categories which have both subcategories and also products not in a subcategory ?

You'll need to take it out of Maintenance mode for us to look at it. Go to Admin - Configuration - My Store - Store Status and select 2 instead.

Okay Maintenance mode is now disabled.
The client is still busy uploading product images now as we speak, so you might see changes under the DNC category whilst you check out the site.

Under the Category titled "Solenoid Valves" plus the subcategory under it, the problem is especially prevalent, ditto the DNC category and a few more.

Steve, I would like to enable maintenance mode again this evening.
Have you had a chance to look at the site yet?

Sorry, I can only check when I have the time. Did you set the store status to 2 ? That will prevent customers from checking out.

Yes I did set it to 2 , but I see that the client has now enabled maintenance mode again. I will disable it again now and tell him to leave maintenance mode disabled.
Is it safe for me to have store set to 2 and maintenance mode disabled?
