Sold Items section?

I'm trying to figure out how to put a link on the Categories side box that will show people the items that are Sold Out.

Since I could'nt figure out how to make it do it automaticly I just made a "Sold Items" category and when I sell something I change it to that category in Admin>Catalog>Categories / Products

Yeah.. that sounds like a pain in the arse.. I have over 10k available products and sell out of 10-20 at any given time.. I need something automatic as you was originally asking for. Hopefully if this exists someone has a module or contrib for it.

Couldn't you just use the built in feature in the Configuration ... Stock ... to manage the Sold Out setting on Products for when quantities go to <= 0 ...

If you want to have a Sold Out Category, you could customize the code to move the product to that category when the stock is adjust after each order if the products_quantity is <= 0 and change the master_categories_id to that new category and change the products_to_categories table now have that categories_id ...

Then, decide if just moving the product to the Sold Out category is enough or do you still need to maintain the old links to the original categories_id and how to manage that ...

Example:

Product A is in Category ABC categories_id 32 ...

Product A gets sold out ...

Products A had the master_categories_id of 32 and a record in the products_to_categories for categories_id 32 ...

Now, there is the Sold Out category categories_id 54 ...

Change Product A to now have master_categories_id 32 and change the record in the products_to_categories table to be 54 rather than 32 ...

Or ... does this open a new problem ... where new stock comes in for Product A ... now it is sitting in the Sold Out Category ... how do you get it to the right Category for Category ABC categories_id 32 ... is this a manual process?

Or ... would it be better to link Product ABC to Category ABC categories_id 54 ... and customize the code everywhere to ignore Products from categories_id 54 if you do not want Sold Out products to show anywhere else except if someone were to select the Sold Out category categories_id 54 ...

And, in the current scenario ... are you already using Linked Products? Or would the only time there would be a Linked Product happen on the Sold Out? Or ... is it possibly to manually manage the Category the Product is in when adding back stock to it?

Many things can be customized to manage all of this but there are a lot of scenarios to consider for both the Catalog and the Admin and how best to automate as much as possible so as to not waste time on moving things around when the Product becomes Sold Out nor when the Product gets restocked as you have from what you are saying 10k worth of products that you want to manage ...
