    Default Slow index page

I know this is an old topics, but my site (http://www.kingoflaptops.com/) just has very slow main index page (other pages are a little faster). The parse time normally will be 5+ seconds on first access (see bottom of the page).

Any idea of how can make it faster?

I already turned of unused sideboxes.
I tried the MagneticOne Performance module, and didn't see much improvement.
I also tried the Query Cache, didn't see much improvement either.
    :-(

    Thanks.

You have 12 images that are approx 1X1inches and are from 25k to 50k in byte size

These only need to be 3-5k at that size as browser resolution is 72px/in

Use your graphic editor and scale these image down

But is that the main cause to have 5+ seconds Parse Time? I think the parse time is the time the server takes to generate the HTML, not the time that browser takes to load the page, right?

Default Where is the code for "featured product"?

    Hello,

Does anyone know where is the code for featured product center box on the main page? I want to find the place where it gets data, and add a small "cache" to it to improve speed (basically, instead of querying the db each time, I just save the results to a file and next time simply reload it).

    Thanks a lot!

    Initial load
    Parse Time: 9.074 - Number of Queries: 154 - Query Time: 0.216407294952

Refresh load after cached - - and thi is what you should be concerned with
    Parse Time: 1.237 - Number of Queries: 72 - Query Time: 0.0753858488922

For that low number of querries I can only therorize that you are on "Cheap" mass marketed hosting

I agree. The problem there is not with your database or queries.
The problem is with processing the PHP and the data received from the database. And with such huge differences between database and PHP processing times, clearly your server's CPU is overloaded and not up to the task.

If you hit your site in a fresh browser, meaning you don't already have your site cached in your current browser ... you will see your site is a dog ...

Hit it again and it is fast ...

    Parse Time: 0.727 - Number of Queries: 73 - Query Time: 0.0475416560822
Hit it again and it may be fast or again a dog ...

    Parse Time: 2.019 - Number of Queries: 73 - Query Time: 0.10844516423
The initial hit may be slowed down in trying to figure out the ip_address and translate it ... this could be due to your hosting provider not managing this information correctly for fast translation ...

One test is to turn off the feature in the Configuration ... Sessions ...
    IP to Host Conversion Status
Convert IP Address to Host Address

Note: on some servers this can slow down the initial start of a session or execution of Emails
If this is the case, turning that off will avoid the slow initial hit ...

Also speaking to your hosting provider may help to have this fixed ...

Next, check the Tools ... Server Info ... in your Admin and see if it displays the Load averages ...

If so, try viewing this several times over 5 minutes and see how much fluctuation there is to the times ... they should be very low ... high times means an overloaded server ...

My vote is a poorly configured server and an overloaded one to boot ...
