help question My Site is in US dollars, but Paypal charges in Canadian Funds

I have a problem with my shopping cart that I don't know how to fix.

I live in Canada, but want my site set up in US funds because a majority of my customers are from the US.

It looks like my site is in US dollars right up until my customers go to the Paypal screen. At that point it changes the amount into Canadian dollars. For example today a customer tried to purchase a design for $18.00, but at the paypal check out it asked for $20.19 in Canadian Funds. My customers find this confusing and I'm losing business.

Can somebody please tell me how I have to set up my cart so that the entire transaction goes in US funds>

I contacted Paypal and they said my Paypal account is set up properly for US funds and that the problem is in the set up of my shopping cart in the store.

In Zencart I have the default currency as US. Really don't know what else I have to do.

There must be other Canadians using Zencart and selling in US dollars. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

The version of Zen Cart would help, but have you looked at the Transaction Currency setting in the admin PayPal payment module?

OMG...you are wonderful! An easy fix for a change. My site is now in US dollars. I didn't even know that was there because somebody else initially set up the Zencart for me.

My apologies for not telling you that I have V 1.3.8a. I want to upgrade to the new version, but nervous too because I'm not sure if I made a custom template. All I did was upload the Cherry template. That's my next step to figure out how to protect everything I've done so far before doing the upgrade.

Thanks for making my day! Now I can go back to having my weekend off.

If you are using Cherry Zen, you can find out by looking in the admin >> Tools >> Template Selection and see if it is under Template Name in the display.

If it is, you should be able to upgrade with little or no problem. You will have all the latest and greatest PayPal settings as well.

Download 1.3.9d to your computer. Extract it and go to the docs folder. Double-click on the index.html and then follow the directions in step 3.

Well, I checked and the Cherry Zen is there as my template. Okay...I'm going to take your advice and download the latest version. Hope you're going to be around for awhile because I don't have a clue what I'm doing. Webmaster I am not!

Hope it's as easy as you say.

Only real requirement is to read with comprehension, follow the steps, and don't take shortcuts.

That's what makes most webmasters have problems with an upgrade We're not used to doing any of those things.

Okay dbltoe....I've downloaded the upgrade, printed out the txt file for install and don't think that I'm reading this with comprehension

Here comes the dumb questions...if I send all of these folders to my site via ftp program, won't they over write the folders that are already there?

I'm not sure what this means "unpack the code to a web server"

Do I also send the "zc_install" folder to my site via ftp program?

My site is already up and running and I have a host so I'm assuming that I would put http://www.paradiseembroiderydesigns.com/zc_install/ into the browser.

I told you I would have some dumb questions. Not sure if I can do this without messing up my entire site. Maybe the old version is not so bad afterall

With the files on YOUR computer, unzip the files to their own folder (like upgrade).
Open the docs folder inside the "upgrade" folder on your computer.
Double-click the index.html file that is in the docs folder. Your browser should open with ....../docs/index.html showing in the address bar.
There should be 16 items on that page.
Item 3 should say, "Read me first -- Upgrading from a prior version"
Click on that link and the address bar should now show ..../docs/2.readme_how_to_upgrade.html
    Second box down is titled
3 EASY STEPS TO UPGRADE ZEN CART™

Follow the directions item by item, step by step.

Thanks....I got all of that and printed it out so I can read over the instructions.

I groaned just reading the red print

I don't think that I'm going to tackle this one until I build up more confidence and read...read..read.

Thanks for all of your help
