Site Hacked, can I get it back to get data

One of my sites was hacked. It looks like the over wrote the index.php file or deleted mine and uploaded theirs.

My question is can I somehow get the site back up so I can get my data off it and the start over with a fresh install of Zen cart?

I was planning to redo the site anyway, I just don't want to have to retype all the product descriptions, etc...

I did not make a back up of this site. What is the best way to make back ups of sites?

Usually your host should backup your files regularly. If so, you can get the files from them and take what you need when rebuilding.
