Filter products by attributes - Very SLOW results problem

Hi,

I have a really annoying problem with my site. I've installed the Filter Products by Attributes and Price Range, and I have about 600 products installed, each has 5 attributes (set as read only). This means theres just under 3000 attributes over all the products.

When I use the filter to search for a set attribute (Inner Diameter = 10mm for example) and perform a search, the results are displayed fine. However, if nothing is selected and only the Attribute Names are displayed, the search take a lifetime and eventually crashes the mysql database.

Is there a way to edit this module to direct it to a "No products have been selected" page, when someone doesn't actually select an attribute to filter?

Or if anyone knows why it makes the database crash... I would love to know how to stop it!

Hi, although this is a relatively older post, I have come across the same issue with the product filter by attributes and price range mod...
I have quite a few mandatory attributes that must be selected... This slowed down my site... however, I installed the query cache mod, which increase performance on my site, however, did absolutely nothing to the filter by attributes mod...

Do you have any suggestions?
