chnage name of index.php

Does anybody know if its possible to change the name of index.php which forms the homepage and pages below it?

The reason I need to do this is because I need to upload an older version of a website I'm rebuilding under the same directory. This relies on html files rather than php, so the homepage will be index.htm. I don't want any confusion between the two when someone logs onto the site.

There shouldn't be any confusion - the index.html will load first on most server configfurations, assuming that's what you want.

You could also move Zencart to a subdirectory.

To answer your question, though, I'm sure it can be done, but with some difficulty.

Find the .htaccess file in the root directory. Look for an entry called DirectoryIndex and change it to:

DirectoryIndex index.html

Thanks for that. Will look at both options. Its only temporary anyway until I get the new site live. the old sites server is being switched off tomorrow so I need to be hasty about moving it.
