    Default alert messages suddenly

So the web site is up & running along just fine. Then I start getting these email errors:

ALERT: PayPal Express Checkout Error ()
    - (7) couldn't connect to host

Putting in a PayPal ticket has not helped. Then today te error changed to this:

ALERT: PayPal Direct Payment Error ( <!-- -->)
    - (7) couldn't connect to host

I'm not sure what the customers are seeing, but they are frustrated and so am I.
Does anyone know what these mean?
I have checked all my settings in Zen Cart and the API certificate from PayPal values are all correct.
    super frustrated!
    Thanks for reading!

That's a message coming from a failure of your server's attempt to connect TO the PayPal server to try to commence a transaction with PayPal.
Report the problem to your hosting company, telling them that CURL is reporting that error message when trying to connect to PayPal.

If they need more info for fixing the problem, you can try the curl tester script from here: http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showthread.php?t=65680
