I need to be able to hide a category & not have it readily viewable from the website.

I need to be able to hide a category & not have it readily viewable from the website.

There is a Free Software Add On called: hideCategories which would be nice except for the fact that it is not compatible with MySQL 5 (hint: Guess which version MySQL version I'm running...?).


Any suggestions?

I assume you'll give the URL to the category to certain customers ?

It's kind of a kludge, but I have done this:

When you create the category, in the Category Name field, do something like this: <div class="hideme">Category Name </div>, then in the stylesheet: .hideme {display:none;}

The space where the name would be is still there, so you'll need to watch where you put it, sort order-wise.

1st type of Category & Good to go) Online customers categories. All inventory viewable & searchable from Online Catalog/Cart. Inventory controlled by Free Software Add-on: Stock by Attributes

2nd type of Category) Brick & mortar store category & Not ready.

This category is intended to have its own category becuz
-I'm using Ollacart Point-of-Sale & is not compatible with Products using Stock by Attributes (which means each attribute = its own product id/sku)
-this inventory needs to be separate from the online catalog's inventory to be solely used for a brick & mortar store
-it will be easier to see what the product/inventory levels are @ another location

Anybody want to help?

Why don't you take a look at the hideCategories module.

There aren't enough spaces available in the category name box... Is this adjustable somewhere? I'm trying to name it "Advent and Christmas".
