    Default Export/import in phpmyadmin

I need some help here, hoping someone has the time and patience to come through... :)

I decided I'd might as well do a fresh install instead of ugrading, since I have some add-ons I don't even use anymore and in general had a bit of clutter in there.

So I have my test shop with a new template, new database, clean and fresh. It's not live yet.

But I need my customers, orders, reviews, and I have no idea how to export the database. I tried exporting everything, but the file was unreadable by phpadmin. Asked my host support, and they did it for me. But of course everything I had done in the new database got overridden, plus there's a warning message saying that I need to upgrade the database... So now I'm hoping they did a backup so that they can restore.

    And back to square one...

How do I export and import orders, customers and reviews and not the whole database?

The "upgrade" option during the install refers exclusively to the DATABASE, not the files. You can use a completely fresh, clean copy of the code, and pull in your database by going through the upgrade process in the installer.

Yeah, I got that. But I had a new database as well as a new file set, and phpmyadmin gave me a "file could not be read". But it's sorted out now. :)

Care to share what happened and what you did, for the benefit of those who follow your trail in the future?

Hehe, I would if I could, but I really don't know what happened. The file could not be read, so I tried it as a SQL query in phpmyadmin instead. And it didn't work.

A few days later I tried the SQL query again, and then it DID work. And all is good. :)
