    Default Failed upgrade attempts

    Dear Sir/Madam,

I tried to upgrade my zen cart site from v1.1.2 to v1.3.9h.

In the upgrade process, I kept getting error messages like

    1062 Duplicate entry '1' for key 1
    in:
    [INSERT INTO product_types VALUES (1, 'Product - General', 'product', '1', 'Y', '', now(), now());]

    1062 Duplicate entry '1-1' for key 1
    in:
    [INSERT INTO paypal_ipn_address_status VALUES (1, 1, 'confirmed');]

    1062 Duplicate entry '1-1' for key 1
    in:
    [INSERT INTO paypal_ipn_address_status VALUES (1, 1, 'confirmed');]

and for many other tables. I pressed F5 to refresh, but it just got stuck and the upgrading process was not able to move on -

So I did a flash install on the v1.3.9 and exported its the database. Compare the v1.1.2 database to v1.3.9h database, and just add new columns directly to v1.1.2 database. The same result with 1062 error message - failed miserably.

I searched the forum, some said I have to use alter table commands in phpmyadmin. I found in the v1.3.9.h \zc_install\sql there are a lot of files containing sql commands and tried to execute them one by one within the phpmyadmin database - failed again.

the 1062 duplicate entry messages are still there and once again, I stuck.

I tried the mysql database v4.1 and 5.0, and the hosting company is goDaddy.com.
Also, I know this may not be relevant, but does anyone know how I can change file permission for the entire directory (including subdirectories and files) to 777 using Putty (ssh). goDaddy does not support ssh, although they admit ssh is the most efficient way to change permission for all subdirectories and files.

Please kindly advise how I can solve this database issue.

    Thank you very much -

Looking at what I posted in this thread may help you:

After you have accessed the new and blank database using phpMyAdmin make sure that any existing tables are deleted before you try to import the backup of your old database.

Thank you very much for your reply.
I can import the old database alright, but it is the upgrade process (by executing index.php in zc_install v1.3.9h) that I am having trouble with and experienced the 1062 problem.

Your post is very informative and I am very curious how we can use ssh to import database.

I appreciate your help and happy holiday~

It looks as though you are not using the "Upgrade only database" link and are trying to populate a new database as you would for a new install.

    Hi Vger,

Thank you very much for your reply.

That 1062 message was actually encountered during the zen cart installation process. The reason I did manual database population is because I was not able to complete the regular database upgrade process.

Here is what I did in the regular zencart upgrade process -

    1. copy configure.php from zen_old/includes/ to zen_new/includes/
    2. launch chrome and open zc_install/index.php
    3. observe "Database appears to be Zen Cart™ v1.1.2 or 1.1.3" in ":: Zen Cart™ Setup - System Inspection"
    4. click "Upgrade Cfg Files"
    5. boxes "Upgrade DB from 1.1.2 or 1.1.3 to 1.1.4" all the way to "Upgrade DB from 1.3.8 to 1.3.9" are checked in Database Upgrade
    6. click "Upgrade Database Now"
    7. shown "mysql SQL Install file does not exist", but found all files exist in zc_install/sql
    8. chmod all files within zc_install/sql to 705
    9. click again "Upgrade Database Now"
    10. got error message:

    1062 Duplicate entry '1' for key 1
    in:
    [INSERT INTO product_types VALUES (1, 'Product - General', 'product', '1', 'Y', '', now(), now());]

    Please help.
Thank you Vger for following up -
