    help question UPS Weight issue for dvd's

    My problem is that we only ship dvd's, and only use UPS.

    The DVD's we ship are 3.2 OZ. each, so it take 5 dvd's to equal 1 pound. Is there a way for me to set up my Zen-cart with the UPS module so that it will calculate the weight.
    At this point the module only see 1 LBS increments, so for example, if someone orders 5 dvd's the module charges it at 5 pounds instead of one pound.
    I get that UPS has a 1 pound min but is there a formula or something I can use to get this closer to the correct pricing and weight?

    I'm in
    Zen Cart 1.3.8a Patch: 1::
    with SuperOrders 2.0 and UPS Worldship 9.0 Export modules

    thanks in advance,
    jim

    3.2 x 5 = 16 oz

    However, Zen Cart is using the products_weight in pounds ...

    You need to enter the 3.2 oz in relation to pounds ...

    3.2 oz = .2 pounds

    .2 pounds * 5 = 1 pound

    See if using .2 rather than 3.2 works better for you ...

    ok Linda,

    i tried to do that and it doesn't seem to see the decimal point.
    the price is the same for 3 or .3 - 2 or .2

    also the ground price I get in ZC is $10.51 and the price for the same address on our ups word ship is $6.90 both at 1 LBS
    is there something im missing or need to update?

    If you enter the Product Weight as .2 and add 1 to the cart ... how much weight do you see in the checkout_shipping for the shipping methods?

    Also check your settings in the Configuration ... Shipping/Packaging ... and see what you have set for:
    Maximum Weight (default is 50)
    Tare Rate (default is 0:3 which is add 3lbs) set to 0:0 for adding no additional weight ...

    Sorry, depending on your settings it may or may not show the order weight on the checkout_shipping ... you appear to have this turned off ...

    Most likely you turned it off in the Configuration ... Shipping/Packaging ...
    Display Number of Boxes and Weight Status
    Display Shipping Weight and Number of Boxes?

    0= off
    1= Boxes Only
    2= Weight Only
    3= Both Boxes and Weight
    Personally I like it off too ... but it does help to see the value when testing ...
