Select Products Free US Shipping Only

I have spent over an hour trolling the forum on this issue and I just cannot wrap my head around it and hope someone can help! I have tried every scenario I know to use.

ZC version 1.3.9d - new install

Testing URL: http://www.pitneymanor.com/upgrade

WHAT WE NEED:
1. To offer free shipping on specific items regardless of order total for US customers only.
2. All international customers do not get free shipping at all on anything - ever.
3. All US orders get free shipping if order total is over 175.00
4. Need to display other options for shipping - like USPS, Fedex - even if free shipping for US is offered.
5. Want the item to show the "free shipping" graphic on product info page

CONSTANT in all scenarios - set up zone for US states only

SOME of What I have tried:
Scenario One:
Free Shipping Options = TRUE
Total >= 175.00
Zone: US

Free Shipping!
Set to True
Zone: US

Modules>Order Total> Free Shipping = disabled

Configuration> Shipping/Packaging>Order Free Shipping 0 Weight Status set to 0

Item set to Yes.. always free shipping
Item weight set to 4lbs

Results:
1. US Address - works great! Even when adding another item to the cart - shipping is only calculated on additional item lbs.
2. International customer - returns "Sorry we are not shipping to your region at this time"


Scenario Two
Free Shipping Options = TRUE
Total >= 175.00
Zone: US

Free Shipping!
Set to False

Modules>Order Total> Free Shipping = disabled

Configuration> Shipping/Packaging>
Order Free Shipping 0 Weight Status set to 0

Item set to Yes.. always free shipping
Item weight set to 4lbs

Results - as suspected since free shipping is turned off:
1. US Address returns "Sorry we are not shipping to your region at this time"
2. International customer - returns "Sorry we are not shipping to your region at this time"


Scenario Three:
Free Shipping Options = TRUE
Total >= 0
Zone: US

Free Shipping!
Set to True
Zone: US

Modules>Order Total> Free Shipping = set to 175.00 national only

Configuration> Shipping/Packaging>
Order Free Shipping 0 Weight Status set to 0

Item set to Yes always free shipping
Item weight set to 4lbs

Results:
1. US Address - Shows other shipping options - but when adding another product to the cart - shows free shipping even though order total is not over $175 - guessing this is because the Modules>free options "0" total overrides the Modules Order total
2. International customer - returns "Sorry we are not shipping to your region at this time" and when adding another item to cart, only calculates USPS shipping on the second item that is not marked "always free shipping"

So... if anyone can help me figure this out, I would appreciate it!

The Always Free Shipping is a setting for *everyone* to get fre shipping on a product ...

However, you could customize the USPS and FedEx shipping module to not test for the Always Free Shipping by commenting out, for example, in the USPS shipping module:

    // disable only when entire cart is free shipping
//    if (zen_get_shipping_enabled($this->code)) {
      $this->enabled = ((MODULE_SHIPPING_USPS_STATUS == 'True') ? true : false);
//    }

Put the Zone for the US shipping on the FREE SHIPPING! freeshipper so that only the US sees that ...

Always Free Shipping triggers the FREE SHIPPING! freeshipper ... not the Free Shipping Options freeoptions shhipping module ...

Try installing both ... and again, set the Zone for them to the US Zone Definition that you created ...

I must be missing something....

I modified the USPS file as you indicated and put it in an overrides directory for the template - uninstalled USPS and reinstalled it.

I set the product as always free shipping

I set the Free Shipping to US zone

I set Free Options to US zone - Total >=$175

I turned off the Order total shipping

Results:
US shipping is fine - only calculates shipping on the second item weight and not the free shipping item weight

International says Sorry, we are not shipping to your region at this time. - unless another "non free shipping" item is added to the cart - then USPS calculates postage on the weight of the second item only

Ok... took the revised usps file and put under includes/modules/shipping - it will return rates - instead of we are not shipping to your area at this time - but the rate is for .06lbs - instead of 4# which is what is entered in as weight for the product.

The shipping modules for the code:

What weight do you have on the Products in the shopping cart that you are testing for this?

A Product with 0 shipping will default to the minimum of 0.062 ...

The weight of the item is 4# and it is entered correctly in the product page in the admin....

Yeah... I was in a mad dash to change the name and then had to leave before I could get the config files changed. Just got back in the office so will go change them now.
