Default Don't accept orders over Maximum Package Weight

    Hi,

I am trying not allow orders over a certain weight. I have gone to

"Admin>Configuration>Shipping/Packaging>Enter the Maximum Package Weight you will ship"

and set this to 3, but can order any weight of products over 3lbs.

    How do I stop this?

    Thanks

Intent is to sell - - Right?

ZenCart will split orders into several boxes of the weight you specify

I am going to use this weight limit to limit the number of product samples people can buy from my site. I don't use the weight for the real products. So I do want this limit.

See if this method will assist
They can add what ever but will not/can be prevented from actual checkout with a little modification

In some cases, the answer is, "NO, not necessarily" :-)

Many of us here in Hawaii ship via USPS in Flat Rate boxes, which is charged by box and determined by the size of the box, not weight. Just how many items fit in a box varies and after say 30 pounds, we have so many boxes and combinations, that it may make sense to talk with the customer and make special arrangements for shipping via FedEx or UPS or a freight company.

Once a customer has purchased over a certain weight, we would like to have a "Contact us for shipping instructions" notice and perhaps set the order to a different status, such as "PENDING SHIPPING DETERMINATION".

I'll consider the fix in the link you supplied also. Thanks.
Aloha from Hawaii! (its a dirty job, but SOMEBODY has to live here...)
