Default Trouble moving site to a directory

Last month I deleted my site- though not the database on my server- after closing the business (a simple .html homepage of information remains). Now I realize I'd like to have it back up on my same host as I'm creating ZC sites for others and need it as a demo/part of my portfolio.

I created a password-protected directory off the old domain-

www.alexandergifts.ca/old (user and pass = guest)

    - re-installed the version of ZC my old site used, 1.38a, went through the install steps without incident, copied over all my old files, can access the admin and front of the site, but my old products and option of my custom theme do not show. I used the same database prefix, adjusted the two configure.php files with the new path, used the fix_cache thing, read other posts and FAQ, and still can't figure it out. Anyone?

    Cheers,

    R

Did you use the same DB?
    Was the original data preserved?

Yes, I preserved the DB on my host when I uninstalled the store. In the re-install, the process recognized the DB (I mean, there would have been an error message otherwise, right?).

zif you used the old db when installing, you over wrote the data, and why I asked if you preserved it as in a backup

Ohhhhhhhh. Yes, I also backed up the DB in phpMyAdmin and thru the ZC's Admin Backup MySQL. How do I put it back in place? (For phpMyAdmin, I saved it as dozens of pages of code. ZC's Backup MySQL seems simpler to handle.)

Forgot to say- I tried to restore the DB from Admin-Backup MySQL, the screen said it was done, but the products did not show. It also gave the option to use the mysql client, but I'm not familiar with it.

Weird, I did the above and got this error at the last step-

"Gateway Time-out. The gateway did not receive a timely response from the upstream server or application."

    - though I then went into Admin-My Store to increase the time and noticed all the products and info were there. Front end also looked good.

    Thanks!

Default Will search engines find the site in a password protected directory?

This should be my last question here- I put the old site in a password-protected directory (it's now www.robbiemart.com/old) in order for Google and others to not detect it. Is that correct?

    Hi

    For your information :

Google will not search the old directory as long as it is not linked to the present cart.

Protecting password might be an issue.

Also you might have used SEO urls, which if you can disable will streamline things.

Please advise whether the information is enough? Otherwise, dont hesitate to communicate.

    Thanks
