Want to add USPS icon to Zone Rates <legend>

I would like to use USPS priority mail for my Zone Rate shipping option, and it will be the only one offered. I would like to display the usps.gif icon within the <legend> tags on the Step1 of checkout, just the same as in the USPS shipping module.

In the file includes/modules/shipping/zones.php

Which is how it is in the usps.php file in the same folder. Unfortunately, when I upload the zones.php file, the page in admin > modules > shipping stops loading and breaks. When I change zones.php back, it works ok.

Is there some other way to add this icon?
