US customers receive free shipping on products, not attributes.
I've never really been able to get the "free shipping module" to work correctly, so my work-around was to have zero weight for the products and actual weight for attribute. Therefore, if a US customer put the product and the attribute in their shopping cart, it had the appearance that the shipping was free on the product and then they only paid shipping for the attribute.
BUT NOW things are getting interesting...
The client is opening up Canada. Therefore, no more free shipping.
But if it set item to free shipping for US customers (lower 48 only), it also makes the attribute free shipping.
I've heard suggestions to have a "hidden field" for free shipping for the product. I have no idea how to do that.
I've probably looked at hundreds of posts on this forum. None are really close to what I need.
Is this a first time for ZC? I have to believe that other e-commerce websites have free shipping for US and not international. What am I missing?
I did set up New Zealand, but that has it's own directory, so this issue did not come into play.
All shipping is by weight on my website. If you want to look at the website you can go to www.martekdavits.com.
Could a suggestion be to duplicate the website in a /canada/ directory? Therefore, just keeping zero weight in US and then having weight for the products on the Canada website?
Any suggestions? THANK YOU for your help.
