Showing a Product without allowing to add to Cart

How would I add one product but not allow a user to add it to their cart? I've already set the Date Available for the future but it still allows users to add it to their carts.

Depending upon what it is, you could give it a product type of document general, which can't be added to the cart. Or if that's not suitable, create a new product type, copying that model.

You could also mark the Product as Call for Price ...

or ... if not using the Call for Price ... you can change the text and image to something like Coming Soon ...

or ... you can set the Quantity to 0 and set your Stock to mark Products with quantity <= 0 as Sold Out ...

or ... as kuroi has indicated, there is the Document General which cannot be purchased ... or Document Product that you could set to not to be allowed to add to cart ...

Changing a Product Type on an existing Product is not a built in feature to Zen Cart ...

You can, however, change this in phpMyAdmin in the products table ...

On making New Products, you can change it just before you hit INSERT in the Dropdown ...

NOTE: changing the Product Type on a Product to go from Product General to Document General is not a problem ... however this is not something to do for Product Music as this involves other tables besides the standard products and products_description tables ...
