    Default Email not working after changing hosts - SSL issue?

    Seems like it's probably a stupid mistake. I'm in the process of moving my site to a new server with a new SSL cert.

    when submitting a test order, I get the certificate warnings like I'd expect. Order appears to process correctly, but I'm not receiving ANY emails. Either as the shop, or as the customer. All shows correctly in the database.

    I've tried submitting an order with SSL set to false in both config files - no emails either.

    Any clue what I might be encountering?

    Only change to the store is the hosting company.

    How about other emails, like Create Account, or can you send emails from admin ?

    Main cPanel account SHOULD be set as failed rather than allowed to accept. The reasoning is that POP3 sends the passwords in plain text. If you are accepting mail through a POP3 and providing both your cpanel username & password in plain text, that's an exploit waiting to happen.

    cpanel username should always be set to FAIL to avoid this potential risk.

    And probably the mail server MTA used and/or configuration

    Got the email sent from admin.
    got the account welcome email.
    got the order confirmation (??) email at customer email.
    did NOT get the admin email this time.

    figured it out.
    I had the store configuration email sending to the actual store email address - when I changed it to an email acct on another domain, worked great!

    So - having email AT mydomain DOT com for my test store, where those things were defined on the new server, but DNS not yet forwarded, was breaking email.

    Duh. Makes absolute sense in hindsight!
