Relocate Download Folder Outside of Root

I found the title for that in the Faqs, but they don't ever really tell you how to do it and just loop you between two faqs.

Where are the instructions for doing this?

I changed it in the config and put the folder outside of the root but its not reading the /home structure of the link.

The FAQ article: https://www.zen-cart.com/tutorials/i...hp?article=280 is quite straightforward.
But it certainly isn't going to hold your hand in how to use FTP, nor is it going to get into great detail about how every possible webhosting company has configured their servers and folder structures. That's something you need to bring to the table yourself.

That said ... it seems you have some misconceptions about what you're expecting to see happen.
So ... Explain EXACTLY what you did, what it's doing, what you expected it to do, and maybe we can help you figure out where you went wrong.

Since the Faqs gave no information on this even though it says it had it, here is what I did.

I created the download folder out side the public folder.

Then in the config files, I changed it to reflect the following:
define('DIR_FS_CATALOG', '/home/anything/');

define('DIR_FS_DOWNLOAD', DIR_FS_CATALOG . 'public_html/shop/download/');
define('DIR_FS_DOWNLOAD_PUBLIC', DIR_FS_CATALOG . 'public_html/shop/pub/');
define('DIR_WS_UPLOADS', DIR_WS_IMAGES . 'public_html/shop/uploads/');
define('DIR_FS_UPLOADS', DIR_FS_CATALOG . DIR_WS_UPLOADS);
define('DIR_FS_EMAIL_TEMPLATES', DIR_FS_CATALOG . 'public_html/shop/email/');

But that just gave me the install screen again for the cart.

Isn't there directions for doing this somewhere? I searched the faqs and forum and can't find anything.

Never mind, figured it out.

After changing the configs back to what they were, For the download, I used the following:

define('DIR_FS_DOWNLOAD', '/home/anything/download/');

... which is exactly what the FAQ/Tutorial says in step 3.

Can you post the link to that? I looked all over and could not find that. I must be blind today or something :)

Now here is the kicker, I was using IE9 and for the heck of it, I pulled that page up in Firefox and low and behold there are the instructions.

No instructions show in IE9 but they do in Firefox.
