My vendor supplies me with product images in the following format:
12345a.jpg
12345b.jpg
12345c.jpg
12345d.jpg
12345e.jpg
How would I get these to display without having to rename 100's of images to get the base name of 12345.jpg?

I don't believe you can, at least not without some custom coding. The additional images system in Zencart is pretty specific.
I want to expand on this issue. My vendor supplies me with 1000's of images that are named with the following formats.
Some are single image products named 12345.jpg
Some are multiple image products starting with names 12345a.jpg, 12345b.jpg etc.
Some are multiple image products starting with names 54321.jpg 54321a.jpg, 54321b.jpg etc.
I don't have any problem with the single ones uploading and showing. However I do need some guidance as to how to get the multiple ones to show that have different base names.

To function in the builtin additional images display
One can segregate into local directories all images that are
12345a.jpg
and others into another directory that are
12345b.jpg
etc
and use standard DOS ren function to change to the _1, _2 etc
Then FTP them to your server

Or if you have a small enough quantity of images that you can keep them all in the base /images/ (and /images/medium/ and /images/large/) folder, you don't have to use the _ to denote additional images; as long as you make all base images like 12345.jpg and additional images like 12345a.jpg, they will work fine.
Thanks guys, I'll have to find another way to do it I guess.
Unfortunately I currently have 8,045 images to deal with.

Okay, so I am back again with another question about this. I think I have figured out how I can sort these and then rename them.
My question now is if I have images named 12345_01.jpg through 12345_09.jpg can I have them live in separate folders and still be picked up by the base 12345.jpg?

No....You can place the base image and it's siblings in different folders But the siblings must be where the base images isMy question now is if I have images named 12345_01.jpg through 12345_09.jpg can I have them live in separate folders and still be picked up by the base 12345.jpg?

Thanks DomainDude, however my issue is not with renaming but organization on my site itself. It will be just a wee bit more manual work than I had hoped for.
