    help question Esperanto.

Hi. I am using the latest version of Zen Cart and was wondering if anyone knows of an Esperanto language pack. I have translated my content which means it is now in 2 languages in every item description. I have even translated the information pages such as shipping, privacy etc. It looks messy but it works for now. However there is a lot of other stuff i don't have the time or knowledge to change. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks.

Hello again. It seems as if there is not yet an esperanto language addon. Can someone tell me if it is possible to create one by taking another language pack, such as French or Spanish, and change everything that is in French or Spanish into Esperanto?

That should work fine. I would suggest comparing a couple of different language packs and English, to get the best sense of messages. Some sentiments in some languages may translate quite differently depending on where you start.

Hello to anyone following this thread. I have started working through the full file set comparing English and French versions and changing appropriate parts into Esperanto. Its slow because I don't have much time. In the meantime I tried to change a few things for my own use. In includes/language/English.php I changed Search to Search/Serĉi. This looks OK in the file but when I view my site Serĉi shows as 'Serĉi.' This happens in Firefox and Google Chrome. Can anyone suggest a fix? Esperanto characters in product descriptions display OK. '

My apologies to anyone following. I didn't research enough. In my includes/languages'english.php I found the charset encoding was showing iso-8859-1. I changed that to utf-8 and things look OK now. Mea culpa.

    Hi Pensaro

Once you have translated the language pack to esperanto, you may want to look at translating the Zen Button Construction Kit into Esperanto, it should be a lot quicker as its only the one or two words that are used on buttons, and having buttons readily available should make it easier for people who choose to offer esperanto as an option.

Hi again and thanks for the suggestion. I have already created one set of buttons, laboriously, using gimpshop. but now I downloaded the Kit. I might re-do them when I have time to see if the result is better. Still a few months work at my slow pace.

Cheers Pensaro, the translations are only for the buttons, i do know what you mean about creating buttons, i also did that originally as I couldn't find the exact style I wanted, much easier this way.

Support thread for button construction ask me any questions you like about it.

    and sorry about the hijack

Hello to anyone following this thread. I am sorry to say i have pretty much given up on this translation project. Its been about 6 months and progress has been minimal. I just don't seem to have the time or the Esperanto skills (too much time with the dictionary) so i have decided to quit. Sorry to anyone who might be waiting.
