Default Shipping Estimator - problems with getting the right estimated cost

My shipping estimator is working correctly when i am using it to estimate ship cost within my country, but when i use it to estimate to ship to another country, it seems to add 3 (kg or lbs) to the shipping cost (thus inflating the shipping cost).

For example, when i use to estimate shipping cost within my own country for a 2kg product, it will reflect as 2kg shipping cost, but when i use it to estimate the shipment cost to UK (for example), it states that the total shipping weight is 5lbs (it switches to pounds all a sudden and seems to add the 2kg by a factor of 3 - thus reflecting 5)

I have converted all my weight to "kg" (includes/english/english.php) and my tare setting is 0:3 for small packages (that could explain the factor of 3).

Any one out there can offer how to solve this?

If you peek in the Configuration ... Shipping/Packaging ... you will see the Tare Rate settings ... these are adding additional weight to the order ...

Setting them both to 0:0 will turn them off ...

    Hi Ajeh

Thanks for the tip. I set it to 0:0 as recommended and the problem goes away. Nevertheless, the shipping estimator still indicate pounds (lbs). I have pasted a copy of the text message below
    --------
Zone Rates (Shipping to GB (1 x 0.50lb(s)))
    --------
Could you drop me some hints on how do i go about changing the text "lbs" to "kg"? When i test the shipping estimator using my home country, it shows up as "kg". Please enlighten. Many thanks

Go to the Tools ... Developers Tool Kit ... and in the bottom input box enter:
    lb

and select Catalog ... then click Search ...

This should find all the define statements that have the lb(s) setting that you need to change ...

    Thanks again Ajeh

I managed to weed out those lbs and changed them to kg. Now the shipping estimator works well. Many many thanks.
