1253 COLLATION Error Message

I tried upgrading to 1.3.9h, but as soon as I clicked "upgrade database" it brought up this error message:

1253 COLLATION 'latin1_general_ci' is not valid for CHARACTER SET 'utf8'
in:
[CREATE TABLE zen_counter_history_clean as SELECT * FROM zen_counter_history WHERE 1 GROUP BY startdate COLLATE latin1_general_ci;]


I haven't seen this error message in another thread... can someone please help me get this fixed? Is this a language thing or a counter history thing?


But when I go to my website it says "the website is currently down for maintenance to the public." It is functional for me though.... does this mean the upgrade is actually taking place?

That collation error comes from the fact that the system defaults to latin1, not utf8, but your database is utf8.

You can override that by editing the /zc_install/includes/installer_params.php to set DB_CHARSET from latin1 to utf8

Thanks... I didn't go back to Aug in my search results. I got the language issue changed. Now I am getting the "Skipped Upgrade Statements: 3" error. Here they are:

SKIPPED: Cannot insert configuration_key "SHOW_SPLIT_TAX_CHECKOUT" because it already exists

SKIPPED: Cannot add index idx_prod_id_orders_id_zen to table orders_products because it already exists.

SKIPPED: Cannot add index idx_cust_id_orders_id_zen to table orders because it already exists.

I would like to go ahead and Skip these, but am not given an option. **I do not have any add ons.... What's next?

I understand it can be ignored, but it won't let me continue with the upgrade. All it says is "you may proceed to Skip Upgrades," but there is not an option. If I re-click "Upgrade Database" it takes me back to this start page with the errors.

Where is "Skip Upgrades" if not on the main page?

Otherwise, does this mean the remaining files have been upgraded? Although on this upgrade skip I am only on

Another thought -- am I supposed to go into zc_install and delete out certain files/folders to get rid of them and allow the upgrade to run?
