New products disappear

Site was fine, all working well, then new products, as appearing on index.php, and new products sidebox, no longer appear. The settings in admin are as they should be, and so far as I can tell, everything else is OK. Also, a 604 error was thrown up for some site visitors (using IE). Server people changed settings for mod-security, and 604 error has disappeared. As have new products still.

The SSL certificate was renewed on the same day, but server people think it unrelated. Does anyone have a similar experience? And a solution?

Alternatively, any ideas on how I might begin to troubleshoot this? Where would I begin?

Have you recently installed modifications?

No, no recent changes to the site at all, not even products added. The only change was the renewal of the SSL certificate, which happened about the same time as the disappearance of the new products box and sidebox. Could be coincidental, I know. I created a new product, and it did not show up.

Did you try switching to template classic to see if the problem persists?

Seems like it could have something to do with your template you could also check layout_boxes_controller and admin -> configuration -> new listing to check that all of your settings are ok..
