    Default Migrate an existing mysql

We are thinking of throw our old home built web shop and use Zencart instead. We already have a mysql database with our products. Is is possible to transfer that data in to zencart? In which of all tables should we import all the data to? Is it safer to export it to excel and use easy populate excel thingy to transfer the data?

Only is this data is first translated/converted into the structure that ZenCart requires

This might be the easiest way once you understand easy populate
There is a wiki article on how to use it

The database is far too complex for a novice to start importing data from other (incompatible) databases.

If it is just product-related data you are looking to export-import, then Easy Populate is the answer.

Easy Populate will bring in your product data, manufacturer data, categories hierarchy, pricing data and various bits of meta data.

You may need to "tweak" Easy Populate first to give you more scope. (SEE: http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showthread.php?t=116061)

You should use version 1.2.5.4 of Easy Populate. (Several people are working on new versions, but for now, version 1.2.5.4 is the most stable)

I wrote a WIKI tutorial on Easy Populate: http://www.zen-cart.com/wiki/index.php/Easy_Populate

Well I have spent some hours now to understand how Zencart is working. It will demand a huge, not ordinary huge but a large huge amount of effort to make it work with books.

The largest problem is that is no easy way to create new product types and edit their titles.

I installed the 1.3.9 manually instead for the web hotel hosted version.

    Thanks for the help
