customer account creation

is it absolutely necessary to make all customers create an account using zen cart checkout or is there a way to turn this feature off?

i have a yahoo store and there is no login necessary. the customer just checks out with the appropriate info and thats how we know where to ship. forcing a customer to create a login is one of the biggest reasons for cart abandonment.

By the way... both of Numinix's FEC modules incorporate a COWOA (Checkout Without Account) feature that you can switch on or off... depending on how you want your store to operate.

I have used both... the AJAX version is really good.
