removing category, and subcategory image

Hi, (v 1.3.9h)

I have set to false these two:

admin > config > product listing

Include Product Listing Sub Categories Image
Include Product Listing Top Categories Image

While the top-category's image does not disply, when on the top-category page I see a blank small square (image) on the sub-category title.

How do I remove it?

I found it:
.categoryListBoxContents a img {display: none;}

Now I'd need to remove the space above the text, as it seems (to me) that the image is still called, but not displayed.

I thought it'd work, but I see it affects the top category listing as well, so I have to find another solution, if anyone knows about it.
