Number of Categories in Row - Main Page

OK For the life of me I cannot find where to change this.

The site under development has categories on the main page switched to on - which is what we want. But no matter how hard I try I cannot get it to show more than 3 categories per row. This is a wider theme with only left side boxes so there is adequate room to make that 5 or possibly even 6 per row.

Can someone please tell me where to change that. I have edited index listing, all listing, product listing - but there just doesn't seem to be one that effects the main page

What is your setting for Configuration > Maximum Values > Categories To List Per Row?
