How to change background on center column only

Trying to change background of the center column only below the header and hopefully below the bread crumb line.

I have looked at so many wrappers I expect Willy Wonka to show up any time.

Can I accomplish this by splitting the column one and column two statement apart in the stylesheet and re-define column two (center column) with a new background color different from the main wrapper?
