Greetings / Questions about customizing Zen Chart.

Hello everyone,

A brief introduction about myself, I'm a recent graduate, and have been undertaking several freelance work in web design/development.

I haven't dealt with eCommerce website yet, but I have a client that wants a shopping cart on his website and from what I've heard about Zen Chart is seems like the perfect solution.

I have some experience customizing WordPress themes. I wanted to ask if Zen Chart is what I should use with what I want to do?
I design the website myself, usually as a whole PSD file, then cut it into pieces and div tag / css it where appropriate.

Will I be able to do the same with the Zen Chart? I'm guessing my first attempt will be hell until I understand the logic behind it. But is there relative tutorials and resources online where I can get there?
And I'm guessing its in PHP?

Would appreciate some feedback, if you have a few spare moments. Thanks!

Hi Nick,

Welcome to Zen Cart.

You'll find many helpful Tutorials here but the main thing to remember is to user the Template Overrides correctly.

You may also want to take a peek at all the Templates donated by other users on Kuroi's very useful site.

Briefly, don't use WordPress. Zen Cart templates don't work that way, so you'll only frustrate yourself. Take Nick's advice and look at the free templates available for Zen Cart. They make a great jumping off point as well as a learning tool.

Div's already exist....just use the default ones and apply your graphics to them either as an image or as a backgroung image through the css

Ok Thank you for your feedback, but I will be designing the clients website myself. So i must be able to customise it somewhat, and possibly move the Zen features around.
