    Default Download problem!

    Hi!
I need help with a download issue i just now stumbled uppon.
When trying to download a 50 meg .pdf after payment, it stops the download when it reaches 25-30 meg.
I tried to download it with my ftp and there is no problem there.
I also asked my webhotell (one.com), and they say there is no restrictions with download sizes.
Download by redirect does not work so i tried both download by streaming and no streaming...

    Any ideas?

    thx in advance!

I havent asked them, but isnt that one of the reasons to use streaming?
I tried streaming and it closes the download in that mode.
But it shure seems to be something about time.

I will contact them and ask, but if there is a restriction on PHP time, shouldnt download by streaming work then??

    Thx for helping me!

    Read the tutorial
    Download by Streaming
Download by streaming only works when Download by Redirect is off. Instead of giving the customer a URL to the file, Zen Cart sends the file as a download, in 2KB chunks. This helps with server RAM load as well as completely preventing any download link from ever being shared with your customers.
This option works on both Windows and Linux hosts.
There is one limitation with this method ... your server's PHP configuration for max_execution_time needs to be set to a value large enough for your largest file to complete its download, or at least configured in such a way that Zen Cart is allowed to override it.
Zen Cart attempts to set it to unlimited when the download starts, but if your server won't allow that, it'll default to the server's master setting ... which is often 30 seconds.

    Thx again for your help!
I got an answer from one.com now where they said that it is a php memory limit set to 64 meg.

Reading your text in red i realize i have to contact them again and ask them to atleast double the max_execution_time.

If they don´t want to do this for me, do you have some ideas how to get around this problem?

Making smaller rar/zip downloads can be problematic for some customers, but could be one way of sollution...

Breaking into chunks is only way

You can provide text stating that it is in 2,3 or ? segments and provide instructions on how to combine
