    Default Cant run Locally

    Hi There

I am trying to run Zen Cart locally and have downloaded and installed XAMPP and are running Apache and MySql. I have downloaded hte latest version of ZC but when I point my browser to it the error message:...

The procedure should work as follows:

    1. You download the latest Zen Cart and unzip it.

    2. Create a folder inside XAMPP's 'htdocs' folder. For this example call it 'zencart'.

    3. Take all of the folders and files that you unzipped for the latest Zen Cart version (but not the containing folder) and copy/paste them into the htdocs/zencart folder.

    4. Go to http://localhost/phpmyadmin and create a new database.

    5. Go to http://localhost/zencart/zc_install and you should be able to start the install proecedure.

    Does it work now?

    Hi,

Let's say I have my 1.3.8 already in a zencart folder - can I do the same thing for 1.3.9h and put in in a folder called zencart 2?

I figure I can compare the two as I work if needed.

Yes, although I'd refrain from using spaces in the foldername. "zencart139h" might be a more appropriate foldername.

Remember: ZC needs a database, and if you're installing another store on the same "local computer", you'll need to either create another database for the new store, or be sure to use a table-prefix that's unique for each store on your local computer ... otherwise you'll be wiping out data from the other store when you run the install.

Thanks - 1.3.8a and 1.3.9h are both up and running on my local successfully.
