Default Languages don't show in header

I use the apparel-boutique template. I posed another problem about the dutch language not displaying category headlines in the side box, maybe there's a relation between the two problems.

I have 2 languages defined, English and Dutch. I'd like to have the flags displayed in the header, not in the side box. But when I unselect the sidebox for currency, the currency dropdown box also disappears from the header.

I've been studying the code for hours, but cannot find a clue where things can go wrong...
It also doesn't work in the classic template.

There is already a thread for the apparel boutique template. Please post your questions about the template there:

It's not a template-specific question. Same problem appeared with another template I bought - but Picaflor's free ones are better looking.

I worked around it as follows:
    in Layout Boxes Controller:
    - set languages_header.php ON to RIGHT
    - set currencies_header.php ON to RIGHT
    - set languages.php ON to RIGHT | not showing, there's
    - set currencies.php ON to RIGHT | no right column

If the last two are set to OFF, then the first two don't show. Maybe I messed something up..., but now it works fine.

If you have installed your additional languages correctly then there is no need for a "work around". The instructions for turning on this box is in the install.txt file. Also, the exact question has been asked and answered on the support thread for the template. What you have done is not necessary and not the correct way to turn on the header languages and currencies boxes. My guess is that you do not have your languages installed correctly (i.e. you have not copied all of the necessary language files to the new language directory).
