Getting 500 error

i am having problems with my ipn_main_handler.php with paypal express a would really like some help, just last night my paypal orders are not being sent but i am receiving the money, so i have tried to change over to express paypal and keep getting HTTP 500 error. http://gunandsurplus.com/ipn_main_handler.php

The ipn_main_handler.php file that comes with Zen Cart does NOT start with "<?xml ..... "
It's a PHP file and starts with very different code.

Evidently your copy of that file has been tampered with.

i checked my back-up from jan 18th and that too has

and so forth, the site seems to be working just fine until last night when none of my paypal standard payments would not post in admin,thats why i was trying to change to express, i did place in odesk but no answers either, would appreciate someones input

That's absolutely not the correct content for that file.
Download the original files (from the home page here) and unzip and upload the correct version of that file.

Thank-you very much for that I thought was screwed, I replaced the file and is working 100% though i don't know how the file got changed, i thought i had permissions set to read only should i set it to 644 or 444 what would you do?

I'd leave it at the regular permissions setting as you would for any other file, usually 644.
