Is it possible to have the category list on home page side box menu in alphabetical order and the categories with image in center page in a different order?

eg top selling categories could be displayed at top in mid page.

I think this will only show best selling products.

I wish to have my categories in alphabetical order in the side box so they are easy to find.

Then I want to be able to reorder my categories displayed in the middle of home page so that the best selling categories are featured first.

If you want the categories displayed according to which ones' products sell best, automatically, you would need to adapt and extend the bestsellers code quite a bit. It would also depend on exactly how you want to define "top selling" categories - gross receipts per category, number of unit sales per category, highest profiting categories...

If you don't have hundreds of categories, it might be easier and more useful to manually set the top categories according to your desires. They don't change nearly as often as individual products, after all.
