Conditional New Products in Sidebox

Hello!!!

*using the latest template.
*looked in the forum for the answer, but didn't quite see what i needed.

I have 3 categories, but only want one category to show in the New products sidebox.

Is that possible? If so, how?

New products are filtered by the date added

The easiest way is to set in the admin a date range
admin > config > maximum values > New Product Listing - Limited to ...

Then edit the added date to be outside that range for all others - - This will have to be done in the database through phpmyadmin

Remember to make a DB backup FIRST

Have a question though:
as a tester:
* I changed the date in the database to March 21, 2011.
* I changed the Product listing limited to 7 days

So does this mean that this product will show if the date is up to 7 days prior to today's date? So tomorrow, it wont show in the sidebox?

Is there a way to make that category show all the time?
I don't want to keep having to change the date just so it will show in the sidebox.

But for the meantime, i will set the limit to 120 days as a temporary fix just in case.

Seems that you did not comprehend this as you changed the DB date to a date just recent

Make the ones date you do not want listed to say a date over 120 days ago
Then set to show up to 120 days ago
This will show those for 120 days
After which you will need to do something else
