Handling Pre-Orders

Does anyone have any suggestions to handling Pre-Orders via their Zen-Cart site?

Well I'm right now about to start listing products that are scheduled to be released on my site in the near future. (I'm dealing with a lot of trading card game products from companies like Wizards of the Coast which lists dates.) But what I wanted to know exactly how I should handle those that want to pre-order or pre-buy the items.

Just set the date available to the date you expect the stock in. Mention that the date is an approximate date if you don't have a specific date just yet.

Make a new order status of pre order and when someone places an order set it to that whilst you wait for stock to arrive in.

Depending on your payment processing delay settling pre order payments until the stock is available to ship. Process the payment at the time of sending goods (or clearly set out in your t's and c's that payment will be taken immediately - just be careful with your merchant account providers)
