i set up everything, i think without problems, but when you hit the "Check Out with PayPal" button, nothing happens for a few minutes then i get an error and an email that says only " - (7) couldn't connect to host "
any thoughts?

Any chance you're unfortunate enough to be hosted with GoDaddy? -- http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showthread.php?t=171298

Hello. I'm hosted by 1and1 and this same issue occurred this morning several times. Haven't made any changes to the site in months.
Any instructions for 1and1 users? My Curl status is set to fals.

If the problem is intermittent, then you really need to talk to your host and find out what is happening with your server.
Please do not PM for support issues: a private solution doesn't benefit the community.
Be careful with unsolicited advice via email or PM - Make sure the person you are talking to is a reliable source.
This problem isn't intermittent at all. It stopped working this morning and hasn't worked since. This has never happened before.
I called 1and1 this morning and they said they were going to work on it and get back to me. After several hours I didn't hear from them so I called back and I'm on the phone with them now. I've lost 26 possible orders now and still counting.
Exactly. It's a 1and1 server configuration problem.

Hello please help my customers cant shop Pay Pal express wont work. I have made no changes to my Party Craze web site it has been running for 3 years no problems, i have a zen cart hosted by Crazy Domains i spoke with the host about this issue they say its not there end.
Message at checkout reads Pay Pal error cant connect to host > An error occurred when we tried to contact the payment processor. Please try again, select an alternate payment method, or contact the store owner for assistance. () - (7) couldn't connect to host
Please help i am waiting for Pay Pal to answer and as i wait i am losing customers...Thank you
Of course that's what they'd say.
But, the problem is between their server and PayPal. So they need to get involved with fixing it.
Use this CURL testing tool and report back the results:
http://www.zen-cart.com/showthread.p...187#post434187
That link also contains more explanation about the cause of (7) errors.
Also get your host to do a traceroute from your server to PayPal's server (the paypal server name is in the results shown by the curl test described in the link above) and have them give you the results. Post the traceroute results here.
