Installing ZenCart on hosting using Filezilla

Dear Sirs, I am trying to install zen-cart-v1.3.9h-full-fileset-10262010 on my hosting.

I have been given the following advise on how to do this.

1) Copy all content from the folder onto HTDOCS on my hosting.

I then go onto my website www.walkersportswear.com and the following message appears.

I have tried to click on begin installation, when i do- this message appears.

Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.
Please contact the server administrator, [email protected] and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

Could you kindly advise on how to install Zencart properly?

Your domain is hosted by streamline.net. Streamline were originally resellers of Fasthosts services. They built up a large client base and then, a couple of years ago, sold their client list back to Fasthosts.

As Fasthosts offer both Windows and Linux hosting it's quite possible that your hosting is on a Windows server, which is not ideal for running Zen Cart. If you don't know which type of server you're hosted on then check with your hosting company.

I would add that streamline and fasthosts are both USELESS for anything other than a hobby site of 2 or 3 pages, made with simple, flat html.

If you want to do eCommerce, you need to host with someone who knows eComemrce, and more particularly, zencart.

I am also getting this same error. Zencart 1.3.9H installed completely and originall diplayed the standard welcom page. The site is hosted by Cheapnames.com on what is supposed to be a Linux (??) platform with unlimited bandwidth and space. Since trying to upload updates to the files using Filezilla (as they do not offer c-panel or a similar method). The only way they offer is to download and modify the files and then upload them back. Beginning this week my site begain also giving this same message. Now the site (www.bergernovelties(dot)us) gives a 403 & 404 error as well.

That is the recommended method anyway

If you have a htaccess at the root or "/" try preserving it by transfering to your PC and delete it on the server to see if that is at issue

Well. you only have yourself to blame. Look at the name of that outfit... That should be the first warning sign.

bergernovelties dot us does exist as a domain, but has no listing at all in Google, not even an index page.

The domain is registered by and hosted by WildWestDomains
