Date of payment

i have 3 payment modules: paypal, credit card and moneyorder.
the order status of paypal and credit card are automaticly set to "Processing" after the orders placed, the default order status of moneyorder is "Pendding".

i need add to database table a field date_of_payment,
i want the date of payment field of modules paypal and credit card be automaticly filled, and i can manually added date of payment for moneyorder module.

since i don't want to alert default zencart tables,
i created a new table "payment" with the fields orders_id, date_of_payment,
what do i do next? is there anyone could help?

Why do you feel the need to make this unnecessarily complicated?

As you know, when an order is paid via PayPal, the order is marked as Processing. You can see the date/time of that in the Order Status history, along with the authorization details from PayPal.
When you update an order paid with MoneyOrder to Processing after receiving the money, THAT date (when you update the order status) is added to the order's status history as well.

Just use it as it's designed, and you'll have what you desire without having to change any database structure or programming code.

i need a field date_of_payment for each order because i have some customized fields which are calculated according to the date_of_payment, this date is very important for me, it should be exact.
for the date info which is input to the field comments of table order_status_history, i don't know how to call this date, i don't have an idea to find it and use it for calculation by php code
