    Default site in development

    Hello,

    I am using: v1.3.9h

    I haven't being working on my site for about 3 months, now i would like to work on it again and it won't run on my server. I am getting the message "System setup required".

    The development shop on my own PC runs OK! So I deleted all the files on the server and copied the system again from my PC and
    copied both the server Configure.php files to the proper directory's.

    In the mean time the database on my PC hes being changed versus
    the database on the server. Can that be the problem why the system won't run on the server.

    What other possibility's can be the cause ?

    Please advise, I don't know where to start to solve this problem.

    regards,

    Cees de Krijger

    Is the ""System setup required" message appearing on your screen? If so screenshot of the context may help.

    OK. That makes sense. It means that your configure files are missing OR they're in the wrong place OR they don't have the right database credentials OR the path name they have for your cache folder is wrong.

    thanks for your help, database credentials, how do i check those, as mentioned the database on my home PC is different then the one on the server.

    If the path to my store is "htdocs/mysite/store" , how must the path to the cache folder be?

    That's unanswerable as you haven't said what needs to go before "htdocs...". Or is that the problem? i.e. this is the path from your server root to the cache file, not that from your hosting account root.

    This was ment to be on my hosting account, let's say , if I call my site
    I have to type the url as "www.mysite.com/store"

    You don't enter a URL. You enter the path from your server's root to the cache directory (including "cache" at end without a trailing slash). If you start at "htdocs", you're starting part way along the path and Zen Cart won't be able to find the cache directory and will send you to the installation script instead.

    This leads to confusions, can I send you an image off the directory on the hosting server and the both configure.php files

    To find out the full pathway to the root of your domain do this:

    1. Create a new text document on your desktop and name it cwd.php. Ignore the warning about changing the file type.

    2. Put this code into it:
    Code:
    <?php
    $p = getcwd();
    echo $p;
    ?>
    3. Upload it to the root of your domain via FTP.

    4. Go to http://www.yourdomain.com/cwd.php via your browser and printed on the screen will be the full pathway to the root of your domain.

    5. Write down that pathway and then delete the cwd.php file from your hosting.

    Vger
