For about two months, we have not been able to SAVE many elements in admin. We can make changes in the database but not through the admin interface.
There have not been any admin modifications that have occurred at the time that these difficulties began. I know that not being able to save is often a problem from security patch installation issues, but there have been no new installations during this time.
We do need to upgrade (we are in 1.3.8a) - but it still seems strange that these problems would begin so suddenly, without any apparent cause. We moved to 1.3.8a was quite a while ago, and all has been running smoothly until this point, and no other mods or add-ons have been added. (We do have a lot of add-on mods, but nothing that has been added or changed in the timeframe of when this started)
Here are examples of the things we’ve noticed:
- Adding a new coupon code, everything seems to go normally, but then after we click Save, it does not appear in the coupon list.
- Same thing with trying to save an existing coupon code - the new information doesn’t save
- When trying to update any customer information from Customers -> Customers -> Edit, the info doesn’t save (however, we are able to add NEW customers and save them)
- Same issue with trying to update Manufacturer info - unable to edit them
- Products have NOT had any problem -- we’ve been able to edit categories and products without a problem
When something won't save, no error messages are given, it always just returns back to the main admin page, but the changes have not been saved.
So - we have been using a workaround, to adjust things in the database, but it is obviously quite cumbersome to not be able to use the interface.
Here are the things we’ve done so far (all suggestions found from forums):
- Optimized database
- Cleared cache
- Checked tables for problems
- make directory attribute of admin directory writable
- change version updates to Off
I would welcome other suggestions, as it would be wonderful to solve this problem!
Thanks to all here!
