How to remove the categories?

Hi! Trying to figure out how to remove the category listings from the top of the main page. I do not want it to show there. Also want to know how to remove"Categories" or replace with other text and remove the image that goes along with it. Another thing is how to remove "Sponsors" and the image from the sidebox when I put up a banner ad.

Replacing the categories text or indeed sponsors just involves editing the words in the english.php file.

Using FTP program go to Includes/Languages/English.php and search within there, Categories is about line 79.

If using a template go to Includes/Languages/Your Template/English.php and do as above.
