help question Backing up with Filezilla?

Can someone tell me that if I drag my entire zen cart folder to an external harddrive using FileZilla, is that doing a complete backup?

I find it really confusing when I go to my CPanel and try to back up my files, I'm never sure if I've got everything.

I'm almost finished with the build on my site, and realize that it's imperative that I do this properly. Can someone give me some advice.

Lot easier, I think, to use the Compress function in CPanel's File Manager to zip up the whole public_html folder, then use Filezilla to download the resulting zip file to your local machine.

To do a complete backup you need to backup the database too.

I do an SQLDUMP from myPHPadmin or the sql command prompt.

Depends on the tools your Server service provides and the os you're using.

Note: Grabbing all of your php files is not a complete backup - you still need to backup your database.

As the others said, you also need to back up the database (which is really more important than the files, since all your product, customer and order info is in there). You can do that with phpMyAdmin in CPanel under Databases, or use the mod I pointed to.

Just do a total back up in Cpanel - It does everything, including databases and all email accounts and all emails. Best way. I do it every few days.
