Check new users for zip code

I am working on a website for a company that sells wheelchairs and stuff for disabled people. They accept medicare patients and only offer the services to a certain area. I would like the user to answer a question during registration (What is your Zip Code) and if they are out of the list of zipcodes a nice message could show that they do not qualify.

Is this a possibility? I would appreciate any help with this one.

There does not currently exist a zip code lookup table in the DB

This would have to be custom coded
